Message from the manger (or) Christmas Tidings-A poem by R.Natarajan

      Message from the manger

To Bethlehem went some men
Reached stable and saw God's Son.
In a manger lying there
"What's this ," they yelled,"It's not fair.
When we're here how can he sleep
In a shed with no upkeep"

With proud devotion they told,
"Darling baby,it is cold.
Don't you cry,here we come.
Gifts we bring rich and awesome.
Freshly baked cakes,pastries sweet,
Fruits of all kinds good to eat.
Almonds,cashews fit for kings.
Also finely made play things."

"Hear me ere you speak a word",
The infant smiled and then told:
"I've come to give -not to take.
Folks around you happy make.
Do not bring me gifts or gold.
Care for poor,sick and old.
Air is chill, let hearts be warm.
That's the sign of festive charm.
Go to men and serve them right
I"l lead with kindness and light""

Message from the manger will
Make our Christmas sweeter still.
